Your Land, Your Legacy
A two-part workshop on estate and succession planning for family woodland owners
Many family forest owners envision their land remaining in the family for generations.
But does your family share your dreams for the future of your land? Do you have a plan in place to keep the land intact? Passing property from one generation to the next is legally and emotionally challenging. This program is designed to give landowners and families the tools to make the transition a successful one. We encourage attendees to bring family members to start the planning process together.
SESSION 1:
What are the tools available to help you plan your estate?
This session includes presentations on ownership options, transfer tools,
land conservation options and financial tools and implications. We will have
an attorney, land trust representative and Certified Public Accountant
(CPA) or tax specialist presenting and answering your questions.
SESSION 2:
How do you ensure that your estate plan will be a success?
This session will cover the steps necessary to ensure that the next owners
are invested in your woodlands. We will cover keys to success and begin
creating a vision and goals for a succession plan, as well as an action plan to
involve the next owners of your land.
