Learn how to identify common tree species, recognize invasive plants that threaten forest health, and spot early signs of disease, pests, or other concerns. This session will equip you with practical knowledge to observe and support the health of your small woodlot.
How to Improve your Woodland and Control Invasive Plants

Learn proven strategies and explore a range of control options to keep your woodland healthy. Building on the invasive plant identification skills from Session 1, this session will show you how to take the next step—effective control. We’ll dive into practical techniques you can apply including pulling, mowing, girdling, herbicide use, and more!

Discover how to set clear goals for your property. You’ll get your questions answered by a DNR Forester and learn about others who can help, too. We’ll outline available programs and resources and explain eligibility requirements. Finally, we’ll guide you through the next steps so you can confidently start managing your woodland.
