Managing for Healthy and Resilient Woods
January 8th, 2026, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
From extreme weather to emerald ash borer to invasive plants, Wisconsin woodlands are experiencing a lot of change—with more expected to come. Have you wondered what you can do to help maintain your woodland’s ecological health? Do you want to learn about forest management actions that can increase your woods’ resilience in a changing world?
If so, join us for a free webinar on forest resilience! Keith Phelps (UW–Madison Extension Forestry) will define the concept of forest resilience and explain four important threats making Wisconsin woodlands less healthy and resilient: emerald ash borer, a lack of prescribed fire, invasive plants, and poor tree regeneration.
We will then discuss sustainable management actions we can do to help our woods, ending with a live Q&A! This session is specifically designed for Wisconsin landowners, but natural resource professionals are welcomed to attend, too. If you want to learn more about forest resilience topics before the webinar, explore our learning hub webpages.
Come prepared with questions! We’ll hold a short Q&A before the session ends.
