Session 1 – PEOPLE AND PROGRAMS: ASSISTANCE WITH YOUR WOODLANDS

The creation of a healthy, productive woodland requires knowledge of specific management techniques and the investment of time and money. This session will introduce you to the people, programs and organizations that offer
technical and financial assistance for all your woodland activities.

Session 2 – SUCCESS TAKES PLANNING: GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR WOODLANDS

A properly managed woodland begins with a well-thought plan that prioritizes the activities you love. Start by considering what is important to you, then develop a vision and goals for your woodlands. Learn about the factors that influence your property’s potential for various activities and what professional and financial resources may be available to make your vision a reality.

Black River Falls – Wednesday, March 14, 6-8 pm

Session 3 – SELLING TIMBER SMART: PLANNING AND CONDUCTING A TIMBER SALE

Which, if any, trees should you should select for cutting and why? Learn about benefits of removing some trees and reasons for not cutting others. Explore techniques like thinning, selection harvest, group selection harvest, clearcutting and shelterwood cutting. See all the steps and timeline for a successful timber sale, from deciding what to harvest to the final closeout of your sale.

Session 4 – HOW DO I ENHANCE WILDLIFE POPULATIONS IN MY WOODLANDS?

Learn about a broad array of woodland wildlife species and how you can improve habitat for them on your land. You will be introduced to habitat for birds, small mammals, amphibians and reptiles. We will also discuss methods to boost the food and shelter conditions of your woodland for game species.

Cost:

$50 for the entire series or $15 per session

LATE registration per person is $15 per session or $60 for the series. Registraton available onsite.
