Introduction to Forest Carbon Programs
December 4th, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Have you heard about the voluntary carbon market and are unsure what it means for your woods? Have you been contacted by a forest carbon program and are trying to decide whether to enroll? Do you want to learn how your woods can help reduce the amount of carbon pollution in the atmosphere?
If so, join us for a free webinar on forest carbon programs for Wisconsin landowners. We’ll discuss how forests store carbon, how the voluntary carbon market works, and how to decide whether or not a forest carbon program is a good fit for your woods. Forest carbon programs align well with some forest management goals, but not with others.
The session will begin with a presentation by Keith Phelps and Scott Hershberger from UW–Madison Extension Forestry. Then foresters Ethan Ragan (from the Family Forest Carbon Program), Jordan Lutz (from Forest Carbon Works), and Josh Fain (from LandYield) will talk about eligibility requirements, the enrollment process, the payment structure, and other aspects of their programs.
Come prepared with questions—we’ll end the session with plenty of time for a live Q&A!
This session is specifically designed for Wisconsin landowners, but foresters and others interested in the topic are welcome to attend, too. If you want to learn more about forest carbon before the webinar, explore our learning hub webpages.
